SECOND SKIN AFTERCARE
SecondSkin is a medical-grade, transparent adhesive bandage that protects new tattoos while they are healing. Your bandage can be left on for up to 5 days after it has been applied to your new tattoo. It is waterproof, breathable and protects the tattoo from bacteria, debris and irritations, while also helping to save clothes and linens from ink and blood.

It is completely normal for your tattoo to weep fluid beneath your bandage in the first 24-48 hours. This does not mean that you need to remove the bandage. If you notice excessive fluid or the bandage becomes detached from the skin exposing the tattoo, discontinue use, wash with mild soap and follow traditional aftercare instructions

second skin is waterproof so you can shower as normal, however soaking in baths or excessive exercise should be avoided because it could weaken the adhesion.

On the fifth day of having your bandage on, it will be time to remove it. Peel up an edge or corner of SecondSkin back over itself in the direction of hair growth. If difficult try removing in a warm shower. Wash tattoo thoroughly with warm water and antibacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Once tattoo is clean and dry, apply a thin layer of unscented lotion or tattoo aftercare to your tattoo as needed.

You may experience some redness around the tattoo where SecondSkin was applied to the un-tattooed skin. This is completely normal and may occur with any type of medical adhesive. If you develop a serious reaction, discontinue use immediately and follow traditional aftercare.

Do not expose tattoo to intense sunlight, swimming, hot tubs, unclean conditions, irritating clothing or anything that will hinder it while healing… Once the tattoo has healed, use a high SPF sunblock when exposed to sunlight in the summer or abroad to stop it fading over time
